"Therapy shouldn't feel murky. You deserve a space that is clear, safe, and completely free of shame."
📍 Brookside, Kansas City, MO · Telehealth Across Missouri
I've been where you are. That's exactly why I do this work.
Making the decision to improve your mental health can be intimidating. When I first sought out therapy myself, I remember the questions that circled in my head:
I'm Kate — and I believe therapy shouldn't feel so murky. Wanting to create a space free of shame, my goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental place for you to discover your most authentic self.
I integrate a variety of techniques to meet you exactly where you're at — mostly using person-centered warmth, psychoeducational insights on what's actually happening in our bodies when we're uneasy, and a healthy dose of humor to keep us grounded.
I will check in with you often about how you're feeling and how things are going, deeply valuing your voice in your therapy journey. Whether it's trauma, anxiety or depression, relationship struggles, or simply navigating what life has thrown at you — I will be there to encourage and support you.
Who Kate Works With
If any of these resonate, you might be exactly who Kate works with.
Trauma & Trauma Recovery
Trauma can shape the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world — often in ways we don't immediately recognize. Kate provides a safe, steady space to process what happened and start feeling like yourself again.
Anxiety & Overwhelm
The racing thoughts, the physical tension, the constant low hum of worry. Kate works with clients to understand what's happening in the nervous system — and build tools that actually help.
Depression & Low Mood
When the things that used to bring you joy don't anymore. When getting through the day feels like more than it should. Kate meets you exactly where you are — with warmth, without judgment.
Relationship Struggles
Whether it's a partnership, a family dynamic, a friendship, or the relationship you have with yourself — Kate helps untangle what's hard and find a path toward healthier, more authentic connection.
Navigating What Life Throws at You
Not everything fits neatly into a category. Sometimes life just gets hard — career changes, loss, uncertainty, transitions you didn't choose. Kate is here for all of it.
Self-Discovery & Authentic Living
Kate's deepest goal as a therapist is to help clients discover their most authentic self. If you're searching for more clarity, confidence, or simply a stronger sense of who you are — you're in the right place.
Warm. Curious. Real. (And yes — there will be humor.)
Kate's approach is person-centered at its core — which means you are the expert on your own life, and therapy is built around you. She doesn't use a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, she pays close attention to where you are, what you need, and what's actually happening in your mind and body.
One of Kate's signatures is psychoeducation — she loves helping clients understand the why behind what they're feeling. When you know what's happening in your nervous system during a moment of anxiety or overwhelm, it becomes less frightening and more workable. Knowledge is a powerful part of healing.
And Kate is genuinely funny. Therapy doesn't have to be heavy every second. Laughter can be grounding — and Kate knows how to find the light moments without minimizing the real ones.
Person-Centered Warmth
You lead. Kate follows, supports, and gently challenges. Your voice matters in every session — and Kate checks in regularly to make sure the work is actually working for you.
Body-Based Psychoeducation
Understanding what's happening in your body when you're anxious, shut down, or overwhelmed can change everything. Kate weaves in nervous system education so the work makes sense — not just emotionally, but physically.
Shame-Free Space
No judgment. No pressure. No labels. Kate's primary commitment is to create a space where you can bring your whole self — including the parts you've kept hidden — and feel completely safe doing so.
Grounded in Humor
Healing is serious work — but it doesn't have to be heavy every moment. Kate uses humor naturally and appropriately to keep sessions human, real, and sometimes even fun.
Therapy in the Heart of Kansas City — And Right Across the State Line
Kate sees clients at gokc Healing Center, located in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, MO — one of KC's most walkable, community-centered neighborhoods. In-person sessions are warm and welcoming, and telehealth is available for clients across Missouri.
If you're in Brookside, Waldo, or anywhere in Kansas City proper, Kate is conveniently close. She's also a great fit for clients just across the state line in Prairie Village, Leawood, Overland Park, or Mission Hills who are looking for a Kansas City-area therapist who truly connects.
Private Pay Therapy
Private Pay Only
Kate is a private pay therapist and is not in-network with any insurance plans. Private pay means your care stays between you and your therapist — no insurance company involved in your session frequency, approach, or how long you work together.
Out-of-Network Benefits
If your plan includes out-of-network mental health coverage, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. Kate can provide a superbill upon request to submit to your insurance company directly. Reach out to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions
I've never been to therapy before. What can I actually expect?
First — it's completely normal to feel nervous. Kate knows what that's like because she's been there herself. Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other: what's brought you in, what you're hoping to get out of therapy, and what feels important to you. There's no script and no pressure to have it all figured out. Kate will guide the conversation and check in with you often to make sure things feel right.
Will I be judged for what I share?
Not a chance. Creating a shame-free space is the foundation of Kate's work — full stop. Whatever you bring into the room, whether it's something you've never told anyone or something you've told everyone and still feel stuck on, Kate's response will be warmth, curiosity, and care. Full stop.
What does "person-centered" therapy actually mean?
It means you are the expert on your life — not Kate. Her job is to listen deeply, reflect honestly, and support you in finding your own clarity and direction. You won't be told what to do or handed a protocol. Instead, you'll build something together that actually fits who you are and what you need. Kate also checks in regularly to make sure the approach is working for you.
What's the deal with psychoeducation — is it like a lecture?
Not at all — it's more like having the "why" finally explained. When you understand what's happening in your nervous system during a panic attack, or why trauma shows up in your body the way it does, it's genuinely empowering. Kate weaves these moments in naturally — it never feels like a classroom. It feels like things clicking into place.
Do you offer telehealth sessions?
Yes. Kate offers telehealth for clients throughout Missouri, alongside in-person sessions in Brookside. Online therapy is just as effective and connection is just as real — with the added flexibility of meeting wherever you are. If getting to Brookside doesn't work for your schedule, virtual sessions are a great option.
