Aaron Shore, Licensed Professional Counselor & Owner of gokc

I love being a therapist & am grateful to be a part of the KC community of helpers! I believe in leaning into our strengths and cultivating ‘good enough’ mindset in deficit areas. We are not meant to live in our struggles - we are more than them. I offer support through humor, practical skill building & challenging/changing your beliefs. There are so many ways we can do this and your individual style will determine how we approach your work in session.

I bring an eclectic style through nearly 20 years of professional experience in the helping field. Specifically, I have clinical expertise and training in EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, DBT, men’s issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, effective fathering training and personality disorders.

I also love being outside! If you have tried talk therapy with poor results, our nature therapy provides a powerfully effective way to heal in nature.

An additional passion is the cultivation of competent clinicians through effective and supportive clinical supervision. If you’re looking for a clinical supervisor, please let me know.

What other therapists say about Aaron

Aaron was my supervisor and I couldn't recommend him enough! I have ADHD and so it's hard for me to sit still, ESPECIALLY after I've been sitting all day for work. So for our sessions, we went for walks outside which was amazing for me! I definitely miss it now that I'm done with supervision. He's warm, supportive, and always willing to help! Highly recommend!

-Karrah Wood, LPC & Owner of Wildflower Psychological Services

Supportive, empathic, insightful, highly knowledgeable, and fosters all the right conditions for growth. 10/10 recommend!

-Katie Kalahurka Burnett, LPC & Owner of Limelight Counseling

I am a counselor in the KC metro area, and while I have not been a client of Aaron's for therapy he was my supervisor as I pursued my license to practice. In this aspect he was helpful in my growth as a counselor and practitioner. I would expect that he would be a good individual therapist for any concerns that you may be facing. He has a good understanding of trauma work and techniques as well as an extensive and diverse background in counseling.
