Season of Thankfulness Series: Aaron

Hi there - it’s Aaron. I’m kicking off a 7-day Season of Thankfulness Series heading into Thanksgiving. These blog entries will feature words of gratitude from all 7 members of the gokc team. Come back daily to check us out & learn a little more about our stories!

All the Small Things

I believe in the power of small things - Sometimes all we have is a small kindness. I'd argue it's often the only thing we have. I occasionally get caught too far into the next big adventure, profound meaning, grand gesture to inspire and the like. Maybe it's the old-man millennial in me looking for greater and grander purpose. I don't know. I have realized and believe more than ever that diminishing the small things often comes from a place of privilege. I'm lucky to have so much.

When I fail to appreciate my luck it's very difficult to be content, grateful or even notice the small moments I give or receive. If I'm successfully grounded and grateful, I'm keenly aware that it's the small things that empower success. Self-efficacy is not achieved in one day. It's built upon moment by moment. It's the stray lego you step on precisely after you shut the lights off before bed. So, here's to acceptance and awareness of the small things in life. I’m grateful for them.

About Aaron

I love being a therapist & am grateful to be a part of the KC community of helpers! I believe in leaning into our strengths and cultivating ‘good enough’ mindset in deficit areas. We are not meant to live in our struggles - we are more than them. I offer support through humor, practical skill building & challenging/changing your beliefs. There are so many ways we can do this and your individual style will determine how we approach your work in session.

I bring an eclectic style through nearly 20 years of professional experience in the helping field. Specifically, I have clinical expertise and training in EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, DBT, men’s issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, effective fathering training and personality disorders.

I also love being outside! If you have tried talk therapy with poor results, our nature therapy provides a powerfully effective way to heal in nature.
